Stuart's Music
My Artistry part #1 - Music [& video]
I have some pretty diverse tastes in music and I guess that kinda come over in my own productions..
Here's what I like:
- Early Punk/Mod; like The Jam and Secret Affair
- 80's New Wave; Human League, Heaven 17, Spandau Ballet, ABC
- Esoteric synth stuff; Gary Numan, Thomas Dolby
- Rock/Metal; hard stuff like Iron Maiden, Metallica, DreamTheatre and softer like RHCP, Ocean Colour Scene
- Classic Rock; Marillion, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Queen
- Alternative stuff like Radiohead,
- Angst/Pop; Blur, Alanis Morrisette, The The, Elastica
- Some folkier things; Beth Orton, Suzanne Vega, Pentangle
- Classical; Mozart, Vivaldi, Strauss, Elgar
What I can't stand is formula based, pointless teen pop, slushy country ballards, most [offensive] rap and trad. jazz.
Dance/house/garage/chillout is great - in a club. Please don't play it on the radio!
My luvvie existance started age 16, when I bought my first guitar. I still have it! I wrote loads of teen angst material with my first band but only managed two live performances, both at School assemblies in the morning! Then I was off to Uni; my second band started there and managed another two live performances before we went our separate ways. Then came a long break when I started work.. until about 1993 when I started playing with colleagues in their local church. From that started the band pH5 playing Gaelic and trad. folk in an ecclectic style. Three professional recording sessions and two CDs followed with plenty of live work including a spot at the Snape festival of Music (!) various players came and went in the line-up; the only steady members were Phil, Simon Phoenix and myself. Finally we had to stop; Simon moved away and Phil was into his fourth child :-) That was in 1998.
I've since played only occasionally. I am trying to get another band started soon :-)) Still, the bright side is Phil's kids are fast becoming a band themselves. He he..
